Duties and Responsibilities: An optometry technicians duties are to help prepare patients before an examination by gathering everything they need and their medical history. Also, explaining the exam process and administering tests to determine the visual capabilities of a patient. They assist optometrists with providing vision correction to patients. The main duty for a Optometric Technician is to help the optometrist with the eye examinations. Their job duties will also involve assisting with patient eye care and there examination.
Salary: $22,260
Education: To become a Optometric Technician you will need to have at least completed your high school degree. You also need a high school diploma required, 1-2 year training programs available at vocational schools and community colleges. If you work in a vocational school or community college it will improve your prospects in the field of optometry.
