Education: An individual who wants to enlist in the navy as an operations specialist must be a United States citizen able to get a security clearance. Other important qualities include attention to detail and good written and oral communication skills. Operations specialists attend 12 weeks of training to learn the job and must commit five years of service in the Navy.
