Mental Health Counselor


Duties and Responsibilities: On the job, mental health counselors: Work with individuals, groups and communities to improve mental health. Encourage clients to discuss emotions and experiences. Examine issues including substance abuse, aging, bullying, anger management, careers, depression, and stress.


Salary: 43,190 USD


Education: In order to became a licensed mental health counselor in most states, a master’s degree is required. Schools offer master’s degree in counseling, psychology and other related mental health fields. Admissions requirements into a master’s degree program generally include completion of a bachelor's degree and obtaining a minimum score on the Graduate Record Examination. Curricula for master’s degree programs in the mental health fields may encompass classes such as cognitive psychology, counseling psychology and professional ethics.


Demand for this profession: The trend will contribute to employment growth of 20 percent in the profession between 2014 and 2024, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.


Reflection: No, i would not like to be one because i want to be something else. Also, because i feel that some people may even have harder problems but i won’t be able to help them even though i am a professional person they will still need more attention to don’t feel left out.
